BRIAN’S TOP TEN OF 2015

I realize, upon glancing at this list, that the average person will most likely not agree with much of it.  Specifically, the inclusion of Vacation, which received negative reviews upon release, including some particularly scathing words from rogerebert.com who deemed the film “repellent”.  Even more confusing is the fact that I considered it a better film than such titles as Kingman: The Secret Service, another entry from last year that I thoroughly enjoyed.  What can I say other than that I’m incredibly nostalgic and Vacation completely catered to that?

As for the rest of the list, it’s pretty straightforward.  A considerable amount of props must be distributed in the direction of The Peanuts Movie, a unexpectedly fun filmgoing experience.

  1. Creed
  2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  3. Jurassic World
  4. The Peanuts Movie
  5. Straight Outta Compton
  6. The Martian
  7. Vacation
  8. Love and Mercy
  9. Kingsman: The Secret Service
  10. The Walk

I also am now continuing to realize how perplexing it must be, seeing Vacation on the list and not, say, The Revenant, The Hateful Eight or Ex Machina.  I did enjoy those films, just not as much as Vacation.

So there.
